Our Level III rifle plates are capable of stopping 7.62x51 M80 NATO ball ammo (at 2,780 feet per second) and also perform well against 5.56x45 M855/SS109 ‘green tip’ ammunition. The Ironside Rifle Plate has a base coating of high-performance hybrid polyurea coating to protect the steel from the elements.
In addition to giving the plate a 20-year shelf life, the polyurea coating has the side-benefit of deflecting some bullet fragmentation away from the wearer (for additional protection, take a look at our Frag Sleeve™).
