The bundle comes with our Cromwell plate carrier and two Ironside Rifle Plates. Together, they make for an effective yet low-cost system capable of protecting you against many rifle threats.
The heart of this package is the Ironside Cromwell™ plate carrier. Featuring six channels by three rows of PALS webbing, the Cromwell sports enough real estate for your essential MOLLE-compatible gear, like ammo pouches, med kit, or modular holster.
But without armor, the Cromwell is merely a non-ballistic MOLLE gear platform. The Cromwell was designed to hold the 9.25” x 12.25” Ironside SAPI-shaped Level III rifle plates, which are included in this bundle.
Capable of stopping 7.62x51 M80 NATO ball ammo (at 2,780 feet per second), it also performs well against 5.56x45 M855/SS109 ‘green tip’ ammunition. The Ironside Rifle Plate has a base coating of high-performance hybrid polyurea coating to protect the steel from the elements.
In addition to giving the plate a 20-year shelf life, the polyurea coating has the side-benefit of deflecting some bullet fragmentation away from the wearer (for additional protection, take a look at our Frag Sleeve™).
