Our Ironside Rifle Plate is Level III tested to stop six rounds of 7.62x51 M80 NATO Ball ammunition @ 2,780 feet per second (fps), and special threat tested to stop 5.56mm M855/SS109 (Green Tip) at a velocity of 2,780 fps.
The Ironside Rifle Plate is a 9.25” x 12.25” curved SAPI-shaped plate that has a base coating of high-performance hybrid polyurea coating to protect the steel from the elements. In addition to giving the plate a 20-year shelf life, the polyurea coating has the side-benefit of deflecting some bullet fragmentation away from the wearer (for additional protection, take a look at our Frag Sleeve™).
The Ironside Rifle Plate has been independently tested in accordance with NIJ Standard-0101.06 Level III threats through multiple NIJ Approved Test Laboratories.
