This armor bundle comes with our Ironside Constitution™ plate carrier, two Ironside Rifle Plates, and two Trauma Pads. Together, they make for a robust armor system capable of carrying everything you need.
The Carrier
The Constitution features an adjustable cummerbund and shoulder straps that are versatile enough for large or medium body types, and there is plenty of PALS webbing for attaching your MOLLE-compatible accessories.
The cummerbund sports ten channels of PALS webbing per side* and low-offset shoulder straps so the rear plate pocket rides at the proper height. The cummerbund flap features six channels by three rows of PALS webbing, Hypalon® pull-tabs, and a kangaroo pocket for a kangaroo mag holder or similar pockets.
The upper chest and back of the carrier have Velcro-covered PALS webbing for identification placards or patches, or for attaching pouches, holsters, or other MOLLE-compatible gear.
Armor Plates & Trauma Pads
Without armor, however, the Constitution offers no ballistic protection. The Constitution was designed to hold the 9.25” x 12.25” curved Ironside SAPI-shaped Level III rifle plates, which are included in this bundle.
The curved Ironside Rifle Plates are tested to stop 7.62x51 M80 NATO ball ammo (at 2,780 feet per second) and perform well against 5.56x45 M855/SS109 ‘green tip’ ammunition. These armor plates also have a base coating of high-performance hybrid polyurea coating to protect the steel from the elements.
In addition to giving the plate a 20-year shelf life, the polyurea coating has the side benefit of deflecting some bullet fragmentation away from the wearer (for additional protection, take a look at our Frag Sleeve™).
Rounding out this package is the addition of two Ironside Trauma Pads, designed to help reduce backface deformation and energy transferred from a bullet strike.
